چکیده

Abstract This study investigates the contamination potential of herbicides to groundwater with help numerical modeling (HYDRUS‐1D) and stable carbon isotopes for characterizing biodegradation. Four herbicides, metolachlor, terbuthylazine, prosulfuron, nicosulfuron, were applied over a period 4.5 years on two lysimeters located in Wielenbach, Germany, monitored by lysimeter drainage. These contained soil cores dominated sandy gravel (Ly1) clayey silt (Ly2) both cropped maize ( Zea mays ). In preceding study, we characterized flow within using water unsaturated models. Building up these findings, models extended describing reactive transport investigating process contributions. At end experiment, 0.9%–15.9% (up 20.9% if including metabolites) recovered Metabolite formation accumulation was observed, biodegradation also indicated small changes isotope signals (δ 13 C) between leached herbicides. Model setups could describe dynamics herbicide concentrations drainage well. Concentration peaks partly linked strong precipitation events, indicating preferential influence. The core coarser texture showed less leaching than finer (Ly2), which can be explained larger mobile phase Ly1. Overall, our approaches findings contribute understanding multi‐process vadose zone potentials groundwater, where δ C provide valuable hints microbial degradation.

The Fate of Herbicides in Soil

The agrochemical spreading is a common and essential agricoltural practice to obtain high quality, large harvests. Agrochemicals are classified according to the target organisms designed to be controlled (insects, weeds, fungi). Of all the target organisms, weeds cause by far the greatest economic loss due to their interference in crop production. It is not surprising therefore, that herbicides...

Leaching of three imidazolinone herbicides during sprinkler irrigation.

Some imidazolinone herbicides have been shown to be mobile in soil, raising concern about their possible movement to ground water. Three imidazolinone herbicides (imazamethabenz-methyl, 497 g ha(-1); imazethapyr, 14.7 g ha(-1); and imazamox, 14.7 g ha(-1)) commonly used in crop production on the Canadian prairies were applied to a tile-drained field to assess their susceptibility to leach when ...

A comparative study of absorption, transport, and metabolism in beans (Phaseolus vulgaris L. ‘...

Fate and Determination of Triazine Herbicides in Soil

Triazine herbicides belong to the group of the most widely used herbicides worldwide. In this review paper, encompassing mostly the relevant research and publications done in the last decade, the fate of triazine herbicides after their introduction in the environment will be discussed. They are transformed in a variety of transformation products after their application, and some of these produc...
